Welcome to another bonus in person graphing post. Today was the first day of the Houston Texans training camp that's being held at The Greenbrier Sporting Complex in White Sulphur Springs West Virginia and I bet you can guess what we've been out doing. This is the Texans second year coming here to Greenbrier county. The NFL teams sign a three year contract to use the facility so we have one more year with Houston after this year then we'll get a new team to graph for three years. For our first day we headed over to the training facility around eleven o'clock in the morning since camp starts at 10:40 every day this year and then it ends at 1:10 in the afternoon with a quick autograph session after practice. As always I had my trusty see through bag full of photo's, footballs and a large assortment of sharpies and paint pens and of course I had my secret weapon with me Winter my 13 year old daughter who loves graphing just as much as I do. Last year the Texans made you work for the ink by only having a couple of players coming over to sign each day and it really seemed like it was up to the players themselves to decide whether or not they came over to sign. The more popular players tended to be a little tougher to get. J.J. Watt only occasionally singed and when he did he'd only sign a couple here and there at a few spots along the line before taking off inside causing everyone trying for him to swarm the area he was signing at making it alittle difficult. Clowney never signed one time the entire two weeks and quarterback Deshaun Watson only signed on two days but when he did he took the time to sign stuff and took pictures with everyone that wanted one. We headed in hoping that this year they would be alittle better but prepared ourselves to work for the ink just Incase we had to. We met up with another graphing friend of mine and made our way to our usual spot along the fence line right next to the football field and just outside of the kids only autograph zone and watched today's practice and patiently waited for the sharpie boys to come out with their big bags full of sharpies. Their appearance always signals us that it's almost time for the players to sign autographs and time for us to pull out our pictures and sharpies an be ready. When they came out with a hand full of sharpies we were ready to go but sadly we watched as every single Texans player walked inside and didn't sign any autographs or interact with the fans leaving alot of disappointed kids and fans just waiting and waiting. Finally after awhile someone from the team came out and told us all that they wouldn't be signing autographs today and everyone eventually gave up and left. So our first day didn't go as planned but we'll be heading back tomorrow to try again but until then enjoy a few pictures but no autographs from the first day of the Texans training camp.
