Cpt. Caveman's TTM Autographs #42

-
Welcome back for another weekly TTM success post. It's been a slow week for us. We haven't had a slow week like this in a while. I know its not my request numbers that are down because we sent out 22 autograph request letters last week alone lol, oh well it happens sometimes not every week can be a amazing week. Anyways on to the success. Friday brought the first reply. Unfortunately it was a stamped signature from Don McLean. We sent a picture and a blank autograph card and after eleven days we got them both back stamped. Kinda disappointed but better than nothing. Ill add the address below if your just a real fan and want his stamp otherwise id save the stamps. Ill be back next week with more TTM autograph collecting tips, addresses and autographs.

Cpt. Caveman's TTM Autographs #41

-

Welcome back for another weekly TTM successes. Since IV been getting a bunch of questions about international TTM requests and id love to have the time to answer every one of you personally but its just not possible so this week I'm going to talk about sending TTM requests to different countries. Its pretty much the same process. The only real difference is the postage to send your request and for your SASE for the return. On your envelopes make sure you address them properly as usual and for international requests make sure you add the county of origin under your address and there country code under the person your writings address. For example we put USA under our address and if its going to London then I put UK under there address (or whatever country your sending it to) so you get the idea. Now on to the postage. To send a request from the US (also for getting returns from the US) it requires global forever stamps (good for one ounce a piece and currently costing $1.20) or if your post office doesn't carry them you can now use regular stamps to send your international letters but it still takes $1.20 per ounce. One global forever stamp is fine for the small white envelopes or the smaller brown ones we send our requests in (one covers our letter 2-3 pictures and SASE). Heavier or larger items will require more postage on both ends. Some post offices still sell IRC (International Reply Coupons) these cover your return postage but are getting harder to find here in the US. For returns its best if you have that country's proper postage. The easier it is for them to just toss it back in the mail the better chance you'll have at it actually coming back. You can purchase the proper postage on that country's postal service website or IV seen stamps on eBay and Amazon. When all else fails we have sent $. Usually $3-5 depending on the item to cover return postage. If you have access to that countries currency then send that but how often is that going to be possible. Sending $ is never a guarantee that anything will return. Sometimes it comes back signed with your $ back. Sometimes signed with no $. Sometimes nothing comes back at all lol remember no guarantee anything you send will ever return so only send something if your willing to have it lost or destroyed in the mail (lol trust me it happens more than you'd like). Sending $ is usually a last resort I prefer to use proper postage. If you can't purchase them there are always other collectors out there looking for others to trade stamps with. They have the same problem maby they need US stamps and you need UK postage. Win win lol. I'm always looking for collectors living in the UK to trade stamps (99% of my requests are either American or Londan addresses so I go through a lot of those stamps) with so feel free to comment and let me know. I hope this helps with your international TTM requests. Now on to this weeks successes. Monday brought two returns. First in about two months we received both pictures back signed from Scott Bakula. We sent a couple pictures from "Enterprise" to go with our Star Trek collection. Next Winter got an email success from Graham Norton. He sent her a signed photo in just about a month after she emailed her request. I also received my signed book from Grateful Dead drummer Bill Kreutzmann I purchased from Barnes and Noble. Ill add the link below for those interested in purchasing one. We also received our book we purchased from Target in the mail today. A signed copy of Jon Cryer's book "So that happened" ill add the link for that also. Tuesday Winter received her picture back signed from Sarah Palin. In just 12 days she sent her picture back signed plus a nice signed letter. One more return on Friday. With a quick two weeks for Cheri Maugans. She was one of Jason's victims in Friday the 13th part 3 and signed both pictures we sent her. That's it for this week. Have a great weekend and ill be back next week with more TTM autographs and addresses.

Cpt. Caveman's TTM Autographs #40

Welcome back to another weekly TTM success post. I hope everyone had a great week with a full mailbox. Here's good news for you Britney Spears fans that haven't gotten her thru her Vegas show "Pieces of Me" yet. She has now extended the show until September 10 of this year and if you haven't tried her the address is out there and ill add it on next Wednesday's address post for those interested. Since its almost In Person autograph season for us I thought id talk a little about IP attempts. Since we live in a rural area there's not many chances for us to try to get autographs in person without major travel. We do get the PGA and concerts and the occasional book signing and now some NFL and NBA training camps locally so that gives us a few chances. I'm not sure if everyone has seen the news with people trying to obtain an autograph getting attacked or the occasional celeb that flips out on the autograph hunter ( granted some times these are the few bad dealers and more than likely deserved it or someone trying at a very inconvenient time lol ) and sometimes its just an odd scene like with the Vince Neill, Nic Cage incident recently when Vince slammed a woman trying to get Nics autograph (Vince is now denying these charges saying he only pushed by the person). Could these blemishes on the hobby been avoided? Maby. We've never had any bad experiences other than them just passing us buy or the occasional security guy on a power trip, our IP attempts have been fun and exciting. We always try to be polite and ask by Mr. or Ms. So and so instead of being one of the people who just scream Hey sign this. IV seen alot of adults push kids out of the way to get closer for an autograph at the PGA events. Now these are not fans doing the shoving but older guys with backpacks full of pictures and balls and such (The PGA event here requires any bag you bring to be transparent lol). If there are kids trying for autographs and your an adult please let the kids in there first. Dont shove them aside to get a signature. Help them out maby there shy and nervous. I know Winter was her first time at getting IP autographs ( lol it cost us a Tiger Woods autograph but that's a story for another time or if you've been here since the beginning you already know ) but once she got that first IP she was hooked and there was no stopping her from getting 23 autographs on her first time out ranging from PGA pros, sports stars, and tv stars. If your a dealer with a stack of things for the celeb to sign that's fine but let the true fans get there items signed first or just get one or two like everyone else and if time allows go back for more after everyone else. Help each other out. If you see other collectors dont see them as competition but as an ally in this amazing hobby. If your polite and respectful you should have no problem getting those IP autographs in your collection. Now for the successes. Monday we received Winters book back signed by OJ Simpson lawer Robert Shapiro. After a friend gave me his assistants contact info. We inquired about getting her book signed and they were very helpful. Such a great addition and Winters happy and it goes well with our signed OJ Simpson book. Tuesday brought another return. This one from Mike Farrell after just under two months we received both pictures back signed. IV been a huge "M.A.S.H." fan forever and supper happy to add him to our collection. Thursday brought two more returns. First in under a month our "SOAP" DVD cover returned signed by Diana Canova. Showing my age with this one lol if you haven't seen the old show "SOAP" I highly recommend it. Such a great and funny show from back in the day. To finish off the day we received both pictures back signed by William Sargent. We sent two star trek pictures a nice sincere heartfelt full front and back fan letter about ten days before. I was surprised because he sent an extra signed picture from "Twilight Zone". At first I thought because the trek pics kinda smudged so he added an extra but once I saw the inscription I had to laugh. If you can't tell from the photo he writes ALL YOU FANS WRITE THE SAME "FORM LETTER" then signs his name lol. Not sure if we caught him on a bad day or if he's getting burnt out or he's tired of the Trek n Zone fans just writing when he's done alot of other amazing work, but I don't think we wrote a generic fan letter either. I always try to make it personal in some way and stand out because I know they get a ton of just generic or like he writes Form letters, so I really try not to. Lol oh well at least he signed and a great addition to our Star Trek collection. Friday only had one reply. After only ten quick days we got both pictures back signed from Val Kilmer. Super cool success. IV heard some say his TTM returns are secretarial. Others say there authentic. I'm still undecided. I already have a poetry book he wrote signed and authenticated by PSA. Ill add that photo so you can compare and decide for yourself if you want to try him. To finish off the week Winter got her DVD booklet from "Men in Black" back signed by Tommy Lee Jones. It took two months on our second try in two years but we finally got him. I can't find the address we used I thought I wrote it down but sometimes with so many letters going out I do forget. That's it for this week. Enjoy the rest of the weekend and I'll be back next week with more TTM autograph collecting goodness.

Cpt. Caveman's TTM Autographs #39

Hello and welcome back for another weekly TTM successes. We lost county music legend Merle Haggard this week he was 79 and unfortunately it looks like Adam West has really stopped signing TTM. While I have seen a couple returns still coming back most IV seen are getting the sorry you can purchase one on Adams website letter. I checked his site its not bad if your a true fan they run around $40 and you can get one signed by Adam and Burt for $100. Good news now. The Postal service is reducing the cost of a postage stamp for the first time in about 100 years lol. Its supposed to drop 2 cents down to 47 cents per stamp. Not sure when this takes affect but ill keep you updated as I find out more. So lets get on to the weekly TTM successes. Thursday brought the first returns of the week. First in just over a month we received our VV return from Ed Harris. He signed both pictures we sent him. I was starting to get worried the last show for "Buried Child" was on April 3rd but if finally returned and sadly the address is no longer valid. Next after about seven months we received both pictures back from John Mellencamp. He will always be John Cougar Mellencamp to me but IV always loved his music and he even signed one to my mom like I requested. I also received my Tim Curry signed "IT" 8x10 I ordered from the Hollywood Show Thursday. We have been trying for several years to get him TTM but finally gave up and purchased one because he's in my top most wanted list the hardest part was deciding on what picture I wanted since he's been in so many amazing films but i finally narrowed it down to "Rocky Horror", " Legend" and "IT" and you can see what I finally went for lol "IT" of course. To finish off our week Saturday brought two more replys. First after almost five months Tony Bennett signed one of the two pictures we sent super cool and ones better than none. To finish off the day we received a very cool reply from Quahog RI lol. After a couple weeks wait we received our two pictures back signed from Cleveland himself Mike Henry. He even sent us two signed personalized 8x10s of his characters. That's it for this week. Have a great weekend and ill be back next week with more TTM autographs and addresses.
