Cpt. Caveman's TTM Autographs #97

Welcome back to another weekly TTM success post. Sadly we lost Powers Boothe this week at the age of 68. We also lost an amazing musician this week when Soundgarden and Audioslave front man Chris Cornell passed away at the age of 52. Since we're getting close to the 100th weekly success post I'm going to go ahead and kick off the Autograph giveaway contest that will start today and end during the weekend of the 100th success post. One lucky winner will receive a surprise autograph package. You can enter HERE!!! Now on to this weeks successes. Monday brought four great returns. First one of my most wanted returned when we received both pictures back signed by Mr. Steve Smith better known as Red Green. I sent these via venue last year when he was doing a small comedy tour. I've loved "The Red Green Show" ever since I was a kid so it's super cool they retuned signed. Next after just under six months we received both "Love Boat" pictures back signed by Ted Lange. After that Winter received her picture back signed by Toni Basil after less than a month and she even added an awesome inscription for her. To finish off this great mail day we received both pictures back signed by legendary musician Carole King after two and a half months. Friday brought a quick return from Dennis the Menace artist Ron Ferdinand who sent two signed index cards with watercolor sketches and only took nine days. To finish off the week Saturday brought three super returns. First after almost a year and a half we received our picture back signed from Bubba Watson. Next after a month and a half wait we received a nice pre signed 8x10 from Pierce Brosnan. He even sent a flyer for his new show "The Son". It's a great show if you haven't seen it yet I highly recommend watching it. To finish off this great week we received an amazing via venue success from Danny DeVito who signed one of the two pictures we sent and took just over two months to return. That's it for this week. Have a great graphing weekend and I'll be back next week with more TTM autographs and addresses and don't forget to enter the autograph giveaway contest HERE!!!

Cpt. Caveman's TTM Autographs #96

Welcome back to another weekly TTM success post. This week let's talk about autograph personalization's. I see more and more In Person graphing successes that the celebs add the graphers name and personalize the photos to try and stop people from selling. I like mine personalized so it's no big deal to me. I don't sell so it's alot nicer when it's been signed to my daughter or myself. That being said I've never asked anyone to personalize anything when asking for an autograph. I'm usually just happy to get them to sign and don't want to waste more time than I actually have to. Now if they ask who to make it out to, you bet I get it done. This goes for my TTM requests also. I've seen alot of TTMers say they always ask for personalization's because they're less likely to sell a personalized autograph so you have a slightly better chance at success but I've never asked. With a good sincere fan letter most reply with personalization's or inscription's anyways. I guess it's all a matter of opinion. If you really like your autographs personalized it doesn't hurt to ask even though some still won't do it. Sometimes its a rare autograph or the celebs already passed away leaving purchasing the only option but the autographs been personalized to a different name. Does that bother you? Some collectors will pass on purchasing autographs signed to someone else. For me I don't mind if it's someone I really need or want in my collection. For one thing it means more handwriting to compare with for authentication purposes. It all comes down to getting autographs that you want and enjoy, Personalized or not. Now on to this weeks TTM successes. Monday brought one return when Winter received a pre signed photo back from ocean explorer Robert Ballard. After three weeks she received her two pictures back unsigned with a note saying due to people selling online he wont sign copywrited photos but he sent a nice pre signed photo. Wednesday brought one more return when we received both our "Penny Dreadful" pictures back signed by Danny Sapani after eight months. Friday brought one return. After five months we received both "American Dad" pictures back signed by Dee Baker. Saturday brought one last return for the week when we received both "Star Trek" pictures back signed from Nancy Kovack after just under a month. That's it for this week. Have a great graphing weekend and I'll be back next week with more TTM autographs and addresses.

Cpt. Caveman's TTM Autographs #95

-

Welcome back for another weekly TTM success post. This week I thought id go over a few autograph collecting abbreviations that are commonly used. I don't know how many times I've been asked what TTM stands for so here's a few of the abbreviations you might run across in the autograph collecting hobby.
TTM - Through The Mail ( meaning the autographs are acquired by sending autograph requests the old fashioned way with a fan mail letter thru snail mail.)
IP - In Person (an In Person autograph success or experience, you obtained the autographs In person face to face with the celeb)
SASE - Self Addressed Stamped Envelope (the envelope you send with your request for the celebs to return your items after they sign)
VV - Via Venue (obtaining autographs by sending to the film / show set or to the theatre or music venue)
RTS - Return To Sender (the last thing you want to see stamped on your TTM autograph requests lol)
AP - AutoPen (a machine that produces facsimile autographs for celebs that are to busy or don't really care about their fans)
SS or SEC - Secretarial Signature (signed by the celebs secretary, personal assistant or family member for celebs who care slightly more than the ones who use AP's lol)
DS - Document Signed (this could be a endorsed check or a signed contract, ect.)
TLS - Typed Letter Signed (exactly what it sounds like an all typed letter that's signed)
LS - Letter Signed (a handwritten letter but written by someone else like a secretary and then signed by the celeb)
ALS - All Letter Signed (this is the holy grail to some. Its a handwritten letter by the celeb and also signed by them)
ANS - Autographed Note Signed (similar to the ALS only in note form and not a full letter. We get alot of ANS's back with our TTM returns)
HOF - Hall Of Fame (lol do I really need to explain HOF)
PSP or PS - Pre Signed Photo (a photo already Pre Signed by the celebs that are sent to fans who request autographs TTM)
PP - Pre Print (a photo with a facsimile printed autograph)
TPA- Third Party Authenticator ( a company that has "Experts" that compare autographs that are presented or sent to them for comparison with known authentic examples to determine if the autographs are actually authentic or fake for a fee. PSA, JSA and Beckett are the three big trusted companies just remember anyone can make a mistake)
PSA or PSA/DNA - Professional Sports Authenticator (a third party authentication company that is supposed to insure authenticity. Also see TPA)
JSA - James Spence Authentication ( another third party authentication company. Also see TPA)
I hope this helps now on to this weeks TTM successes. Monday ended our weeklong dry spell with two amazing returns. First after only six day's we received our picture from "The Last Star Fighter" that was previously signed by Catherine Mary Stewart back signed by Lance Guest. I love that movie so this is a very cool success and I always worry about sending items already signed by someone else. To finish off the day and after only two weeks we received both pictures back signed by the legendary Adam West. He's been hit and miss since he started selling autographs on his website but it looks like he's still great to the real fans. That's it for this week remember sometimes it's about quality not quantity. Everyone have a great graphing weekend and I'll be back next week with more TTM autographs and addresses.
