Cpt. Caveman's TTM Autographs #68

-
Welcome back for another weekly TTM success post. I hope everyone had a great graphing week. So a few weeks ago I talked about the big changes over at PSA/DNA when authenticators Steve Grad and Brian Sobrero left the company. Now the two have joined Beckett and together they launched Beckett Authentication Services an autograph authentication company led by Steve Grad. Beckett is now accepting submissions at the Beckett Authentication Services website although as of now there's not much info on the site yet and it's saying more info will be announced in November but at least now collectors have another option when it comes to getting autographs authenticated. Now on to this weeks TTM successes. Thursday brought the first return for the week when we received both pictures and an extra postcard back signed from Allan Alcorn who created the PONG arcade game. Friday brought two great returns. First we received both pictures back signed by the legendary front man for AC/DC Brian Johnson. An super cool success from the singer of one of my all time favorite bands and it only took two weeks to return. To finish off the day I received both "The Black Hole" lobby cards back signed by Robert Forster an outstanding actor that's been in so many great films over the years and it only took fifteen days to return. Saturday brought two returns. First after getting PP and autopen returns the first three attempts Winter sent a super letter and a book to President George Bush and after four months it finally returned with a signed bookplate. Very cool to finally add him to our Presidential collection. To finish off the week we received both pictures back signed from the author of "The Exorcist" William Peter Blatty and with a quick ten days to return. That's it for this week. Have a great weekend and a safe Halloween and ill be back next week with more TTM autographs and addresses.

Cpt. Caveman's TTM Autographs Friday Favorites Halloween Horror Edition

-
Welcome to another Friday Favorites. Every Friday we share a few of our favorite autographs from our collection. Some are TTM others can be either In Person or purchased favorites but as always if its a TTM favorite and the address is still valid ill add that also. This week to celebrate Halloween its a few of our favorite horror autographs. It was hard to pick my favorite horror autographs. I love the horror genre so I have collected alot of amazing graphs in that area. When picking this weeks I decided to go with a few of the masters of horror. A few of the great horror directors and a few of the amazing actors who have brought our nightmares to life and I included Sigourney because "ALIEN" is a horror movie in my book. So enjoy and have a safe Halloween. I'll be back tomorrow with this weeks TTM successes with new autographs and tested addresses.

Cpt. Caveman's TTM Autographs #67

-
Welcome back for another weekly TTM success post. I hope everyone had a great graphing week. Well the temperature is starting to drop and the leaves are changing colors here in West Virginia so that means the holiday season is quickly approaching. The holiday season is a great time for friends and family but through my experience its a bad time for TTM returns. IV noticed since IV started keeping track of who I write to and keeping dates the number of our returns drop off dramatically during the months of November and December. I'm hoping this year proves my theory wrong because Its been a while since IV had a month long dry spell. I noticed my number of returns dropped to one or two every week or two instead of the normal 3 to 5 returns a week we usually average. My guess for this happening is the same reason we're all busy during that time the celebs are busy with family and friends during the holidays so they have less time for fan mail. This year im going to fight the holiday slump by upping the number of requests we send out per week. Hopefully that will help fix that problem. Ill just have to wait until after the new year and see how it goes. Now on to this weeks successes. Monday started the week off with three returns. First after just under two and a half years we received our picture back unsigned from James Lovell he also sent a printed letter thanking us but also informing us that he doesn't sign do to the amount of requests he gets. What I expected but we had to try. The first success of the day was from The Walking Deads T-Dog. We received one of the two pictures we sent to IronE Singleton back signed. I took awhile just under a year and a half to return but well worth the wait for another amazing addition to our Walking Dead collection unfortunately the address we used has been coming back as RTS. To finish off the day Winter received a nice signed picture from Kaitlyn Dias. She loved "Inside Out" so she's super happy with this one and it only took about a month to receive it after she sent an email requesting an autograph. IV seen some get an autograph just by emailing and others have gotten an email giving an address and asking to send a SASE large enough for a 5x7. Tuesday brought a return from Eli Manning. Winter sent him two cards and both returned signed. I didn't think they would return so fast it only took five weeks because about the time she sent her letter I noticed a few people getting a letter back saying he was done signing until the end of the regular season. Now IV seen a few other good returns since then so I'm not sure if we just caught him towards the end or we just got lucky either way we're happy. Thursday brought two very cool returns. First after only nineteen days we received our CD booklet back signed by one of my all time favorite rockers Billy Idol. This amazing VV return just made the top of my all time favorite TTM returns and he also signed our letter and sent it back. To finish off the day a great return from Gena Rowlands. She only signed one of the pictures we sent but she added two extra signed 8x10's using her own envelope and postage. Such a lovely person and only took twenty days to return. That's it for this week. Have a great weekend and hopefully it's not your favorite character on The Walking Dead that falls victim to Lucille this Sunday. Ill be back next week with more TTM autographs and addresses.

Cpt. Caveman's TTM Autographs #66

-
Welcome back for another weekly TTM success post. This week I wanted to talk about a problem IV been having. Every once in awhile I get a return with a smudged signature. Now some aren't that bad the celebs just didn't let the ink dry before they stuck them back into the SASE and the autographs got a little messed up. Others have returned so smudged that they are ruined and in some cases the inks still wet and smearing when we get them back. Now IV gotten alot of TTM returns and 99.9% are just fine but IV noticed that the celebs who have returned with smudged autographs are mostly the more aged celebs that have signed with something other than a sharpie. I guess to remedy this I could send a new sharpie with my requests or I could start going old school and send index cards instead of pictures. IV tried printing the satin prints instead of the glossy photos and I have tested various markers and pens on photos just to see how they dry and how the ink takes to the photos for my IP attempts. It doesn't take long for sharpies to dry even the cheap sharpies dry pretty fast so I think the problem lies in the older celebs writing instrument but even a cheap marker should work on an index card and hopefully stop my smudging problem with my older celebs TTM returns. Just to be safe from now on I'm going to send a picture and an index card for those requests. The only thing worse than a return coming back marked RTS is one that has returned but has been ruined by smudging ink. Oh well it happens sometimes and usually if you write again and explain what happened most are willing to sign again. Anyways now on to this weeks successes. Monday was a federal holiday here in the U.S. so our TTM week started on Tuesday with three returns. First we received our DVD cover of "Shaun of the Dead" back signed by Nick Frost. We've tried several times to get him by sending to the UK with nothing ever coming back but this time we tried VV here in the states and it worked so super happy to finally get a reply and it only took him just over a month to return. Next after two other attempts that never came back we finally received both pictures we sent to Adrienne Barbeau back signed and it took just over four months to return. To finish off the day we received our picture back signed but badly smudged from Abbe Lane. She only signed one but it was pretty messed up by the time it came back to us. Oh well I guess ill retry and send an index card it took her just under four months to return. Thursday brought one of our most wanted when after a quick nine day wait we received both pictures back signed by JoBeth Williams. Poltergeist is one of our top favorite horror films and IV been trying to get her for years. She's here in town filming a movie for a couple weeks so we have been trying to get her IP but with no luck so far but just incase we missed her IP I sent to her via venue TTM when they started filming here and she replied and she also sent us a cool signed thank you note on the back of a script page. To finish off the week Saturday brought two more returns. First after only ten days we received both pictures back signed from Bob Singer who has worked on so many of our favorite cartoons over the years. He even sent us a signed thank you note with a sketch of Scooby on an index card. To finish off the day a fast seven day wait for one of our favorite authors to reply. Dean Koontz signed our index card and he also sent us a nice signed 8x10 and signed letter explaining why he didn't sign our picture because the only light area to sign was on his face and that he's sending one of his own. Great return from an amazing author. That's it for this week. Have a great weekend and I'll be back next week with more TTM autograph collecting goodness.

Cpt. Caveman's TTM Autographs Friday Favorites

-
Welcome back to another Friday Favorites. Every Friday I share a few of our favorite autographs from our collection. Some are TTM and some are In Person or purchased favorites but as always if its a TTM and the address is still valid I'll add that also. This week its an all Via Venue TTM favorites. Sending TTM requests to plays, concerts, film or television show sets can sometimes pay off with some great returns but its always a gamble. Sometimes you get a return sometimes you never see what you sent ever again so as always never send anything you're not willing to loose. VV attempts take a little more research and the addresses are only valid for a short period so timing is key. Enjoy and ill be back tomorrow with this weeks TTM successes with new autographs and tested addresses.

Cpt. Caveman's TTM Autographs #65

-
Welcome back for another weekly TTM success post. I hope everyone had a great graphing week. I'm sure by now most of you seasoned collectors have heard about the big changes over at PSA/DNA one of the major third party authentication (TPA) companies but for those that haven't heard the news. Two of the companies main authenticators Steve Grad and Brian Sobrero have left the company. Possibly to start another autograph related company or possibly due to the recent legal cases involving Mr. Grad. Both Sobrero and Grad who was PSA's principle authenticator and who can also be seen authenticating autographs on the History Channels "Pawn Stars". Both claimed to have a wide range of expertise. PSA has replaced them by hiring two long time dealers / authenticators Kevin Keating and Bill Corcoran who are both well known dealers but there field of expertise mainly lies in sports. This might be great for the sports collectors out there but as most already know PSA is not always the best choice when it comes to authenticating modern celebs and only time will tell how these changes will effect the hobby and the company. Anyways now on to this weeks successes. Monday brought an amazing return from one of my all time favorite Quarterbacks Joe Montana. After only twelve days we received both pictures back signed from the HOF 49er. Tuesday brought a return from actress Jenny Agutter. I love "Logans Run" another favorite of mine so a great return and it only took her just under two months to reply. Friday brought two more returns. First after four and a half months we received both pictures back signed by Stephen Furst. To finish off the day Winter received her picture back signed from Henry Winkler. She loved him in "The Water Boy" and she's super happy with this return and it took just under four months for it to come back. Saturday brought one last return for this week. I'm not sure when or where because its been several years when Winter sent these back before I kept records. She sent two pictures to paranormal investigator Lorraine Warren. Her and her husbands work was portrayed in "The Conjuring" films. We had forgotten and given up on this one but she signed one picture but unfortunately it returned badly smudged and almost unreadable. I hate smudged autographs. IV tried printing non glossy pictures but if the celebs dont give them a second to dry they come back smudged or sometimes they use a bad marker or cheap sharpie to sign and then they smudge. Oh well it happens. I guess we need to start sending one picture and one index card that way if the picture gets smudged the index card will still have a good autograph That's it for this week. Have a great graphing weekend and I'll be back next week with more TTM autographs and tested addresses.
