Cpt. Caveman's TTM Autographs #46

-
Welcome back to another weekly TTM successes. I hope everyone had a great graphing week. I keep seeing this debate popping up over the battle between Autographs vs. Selfies. I'm sure you can figure out what side of the fence were on autographs of course. IV collected since 1986 and not once in all those years have I ever wanted my picture taken with a celeb but I promise you I never missed a graphing opportunity. Maby I come from a different era before the cell phones and digital cameras. Its so easy now just pop out your cell and snap a picture. Now maby if id meet Ringo or Paul my thought process would change and they could possibly be my first celeb selfie lol but only after I got an autograph. I have taken photos of the celebs but never asked them to pose with me or stop for one. Don't get me wrong I love seeing people post there celeb Selfies. It shows how cool some stars are to the fans. When I meet someone I automatically start thinking about getting the autograph and not pictures. I know they are busy and I dont want to waste any more time than I have to so I ask for an autograph and don't bother them with a picture. I'm sure they probably don't mind if the time is right but I see all these pictures with the celebs looking horribly uncomfortable in them so I just opt for the quick signature encounter. I'm an autograph person I love collecting them just as people love collecting celeb selfies. For the collector / fan aspect of it I see no difference to each their own as long as it makes you happy I say go for it but keep this in mind how many celeb Selfies have you ever seen for sell in high end auctions or have you ever seen a selfie price guide lol. So I say graph on but that's just my opinion as a life long autograph collector. Enough with this weeks rant and on to what you really came here for the weekly TTM successes. Monday brought a Via Venue return from Frank Langella. In just over two weeks he signed the Dracula picture we sent but not our Skeletor photo. Oh well at least he signed the one I wanted the most. The show ends soon so you better write him pretty soon if you want to try. That's it for this week. Unfortunately I'm paying for the great week we had last time so only the one return. Ill be back next week with more TTM autographs and addresses. Until then have a great weekend and a safe Memorial Day. Monday is a federal Holliday here in the US so don't forget the postal service is closed that day so one less mail day this week.

Cpt. Caveman's TTM Autographs #45

-
Alan Young
-
Welcome back to another weekly TTM successes. I hope everyone had a great week with a bunch of returns in the mail we sure did.Sadly we lost Alan Young this week. Well known for his work as Wilbur on "Mr. ED" but he also voiced Scrooge McDuck . He was 96 and was great to his fans and at signing TTM. I even ran across a success on the day he passed away so he was still signing almost till the end. A great loss and he will be missed. It looks like John Williams who created so much of the amazing music for the films we love may be done signing TTM. I'm now seeing Pre Signed and Pre Prints coming back with a letter saying he is to busy to sign but if you have already written him there may be hope because a few signed ones have also returned but it looks like things are changing in the past he has signed or sent small cut index card signed now we just have to wait to see more returns to find out if he's really done or not. Now on to the successes. Monday started off with two super cool successes. First after a fast seven days to return we received both pictures back signed from John Wheeler. Great addition to my Trek collection and he also sent us two small unsigned pictures of his character Gav. To finish off the day I received an amazingly awesome reply from Steve Buscemi. After trying several times over the past few years he finally signed and returned our "Boardwalk Empire" pictures. So happy to finally get this great actor and only took a month and a half this try. Wednesday we received our "Reno 911" DVD cover back signed from Thomas Lennon. Very cool VV return from a very funny and great actor and only took two months to return. Thursday was a great mail day with one RTS and three successes. First a RTS from Amber Nash using the Atlanta Models & Talent address. They tried forwarding it to another address but still came back. The first success was from Kurtwood Smith. IV been a fan since "Robocop" and we both loved him in "That '70's Show" he signed both pictures plus sent up a cool 8x10 using his own envelope and postage and only took three weeks. Next after only one month we received our DVD cover from "Caveman" and our autograph card back signed by Richard Moll. For some reason he signed the back of the DVD cover but I'm still happy loved him on "Night Court". To finish off the day we received a great reply from Harry Manfredini who composed the music for "Friday the 13th". We send a picture and autograph card and he signed both and wrote the music notes on our picture and he also sent a nice signed 8x10 using his own envelope and postage taking just over two months to return. Friday brought one awesome success. After my first try came back unsigned and crumpled up about two years ago I decided to retry for legendary guitarist Slash. This time I sent my Velvet Revolver CD book and three days shy of a year later it returned signed. Super happy to finally get him in our collection. That's it this week. Have a great weekend and ill be back next week with more TTM autograph collecting goodness.

Cpt. Caveman's TTM Autographs #44

-
Welcome back to another Weekly TTM success post. This week I'm going to talk about Pre Prints or PP for short. Now most of you seasoned TTM collectors out there know what PP autographs are but for those newer collectors out there a PP is what celebs send to fill TTM autograph requests when they dont really care about there fans lol. I'm joking I'm sure they care they are just to busy to actually reply or something like that. Anyways PP autographs are not hand signed but more like a photocopied signature or facsimile. Most are really nice photos and do usually show a good example of the celebs signature but that's about all there good for unfortunately. Unless you just happen to be a huge fan then I guess a PP is better than nothing. So how can you tell if your autograph is a PP or an authentic hand signed autograph. On some PP autographs you can see the old dot matrix type printing but some of the newer PP photos can be hard to tell the difference between and is why you see alot for sale actually listed as an authentic autograph. So I look for the flow and pattern of ink. PP are usually a uniform solid color and ink has flow lines and streaks. A magnifying lens is a handy item to have around to examine your autographs. Another way to tell ink from PP is texture. PP are flat with no raised texture because they are part of the photo and the ink from a pen or sharpie is actually on top of the photo so its raised and can be felt (I always wear white cotton gloves when handling my autographs to protect them from the dirt and oils on my hands). Something you have to watch for is stamped signatures there raised off the paper also but a stamped signature is also easy to spot and then some PP are pressed into the photo so there's an indentation where the signature is. You can also shine a bright light on the signature. PP usually disappear in the bright spot because its under the gloss and ink will flash in the light because its on top of the gloss of the photo. Blue ink flashes a purplish color and black ink will flash a reddish tone when exposed to a bright light. I hope this helps and Now on to the successes. Monday brought a RTS from Jennifer Carpenter from the Limitless Set address. Tuesday came with the first real return of the week when we received both pictures back signed from Marc Singer. In less than a month he signed and returned our "Beastmaster" and "V" pictures and he also sent us a nice handwritten thank you letter super cool success. Thursdays brought three returns. First winter received a signed 8x10 from Jim Davis and only took twenty days and who doesn't love Garfield. Next she got both pictures back signed from John Morris. He did the voice work for Andy in the "Toy Story" films and it took just under a month to return. To finish off the day I received both pictures back signed from Bob DeSimone. He played the ambulance driver in "Friday the 13th A new beginning". Great addition to my Friday collection and only twenty days to return. Friday brought an addition to my walking dead collection when Beth Keener returned both pictures signed. She played Annie and unfortunately that character is already zombie chow. Took just under a month to return. To finish off the week first we received one of the two pictures we sent to Yvonne Furneaux back signed and with just under twenty days to return. To finish off the day and this great week we received a very cool return from Kevin Costner. It took about two months to get our "Man of Steel" DVD cover and a picture from "The Hatfield's and McCoy's" back signed super amazing success from the set of "Hidden Figures". That's it for this week. Ill be back next week with more TTM autographs and tested addresses.
