Cpt. Caveman's TTM Autographs #163

Welcome back for another weekly TTM success post. I think the hardest part of TTM autograph collecting or just autograph collecting in general is searching for and finding the perfect picture that you want to send to get signed. Sometimes you'll have a specific picture in mind and you just can't find a good quality picture and now there's so many great photos available online that it can be difficult to pick just one or two and sometimes maby three to send ( we occasionally send three but normally it's only one or two photos. There's really no need to get greedy and ruin it for someone else down the line by sending to many pictures to get signed). I find most of my pictures either on Google or on Bing. Google is good place to search for photos and as an added bonus you have the option to search for larger file sizes that produces higher quality images. I personally prefer Bing search. I tend to find pictures that don't pop up when using Google and I've had better luck finding the exact image I'm looking for with Bing. Once I've found the photos I want I then save them to my cell phone or laptop then transfer them to a SD memory card and print my photos at a CVS photo kiosk. Since I primarily use 4x6 photos for my TTM requests it's not to expensive but with CVS it's still slightly higher than other photo printing services with it costing me  .22 to .32 cents per photo depending on how quick I need the photos and the number of prints I'm getting. I've tried printing at Walmart but the photo quality wasn't as good as CVS and I've had issues with Walmart not selling me my photos due to copy write issues. Walgreens will print pictures but I've never used them and I've heard others complain about copyright issues also. Several companies now offer online  services and will print pictures and ship them to you but again I've never tried them but I know alot of collectors that do. I've never had that problem with CVS or with any of my pictures I've gotten signed except for a few that tried signing them with a regular bic pen and that doesn't show up well on the pictures. I've just stuck with printing pictures at CVS. It may be slightly more expensive per print but the quality is great and it's what's worked for us. Anyways I hope this helps you find and print your TTM pictures and if you have any questions feel free to contact me on Twitter or the Cpt. Caveman's Facebook page. Now on to this week's TTM successes. Thursday  brought a cool return when we received our two pictures back signed from Dorothy Lyman after only one month. That's all for this week. Have a great graphing weekend and I'll be back next week with more TTM Autographs and address's.

Cpt. Caveman's TTM Autographs Bonus Post Graphing 38 Special, Charlie Daniels and The Marshall Tucker Band

Welcome to another bonus in person graphing post. Our summer time graphing season wrapped up with a few last chances to get some autographs from some great musicians and bands after their concerts finished up. Normally It's only me standing out back trying for autographs and occasionally there will be one or two others just trying to take a few pictures as the musicians walk past. It's been a great spot for me to try for some ink over the years and sometimes it pays off and sometimes you walk away empty handed but even if you never get a chance to uncap your Sharpie you still get to see some amazing musicians up close. Our final in person graphing attemps of the year  started on Thursday when we hung out backstage by the tour bus at the 38 Special concert watching the show and waiting for a chance to get founding member and lead singer Don Barnes to sign. After a great show Mr. Barns left the stage and walked our way while heading towards his bus and then he gladly stopped to sign Winters picture and called with us for a minute. He was super nice and it's pretty cool that he just happened to be Winters first ever concert backstage / tour bus autograph from the same venue and only a few feet away from the exact spot I started graphing musicians and bands at years ago as a kid when I was about the age she is now. Friday night was our very last chance to try and add a few more in person autographs to our collection until next summers graphing season starts. So we headed down to the WV State Fair concert stage and got our spot out backstage by the tour bus parking area and enjoyed the show. For the last big show of this years fair  it was a concert featuring The Marshall Tucker Band, Charlie Daniels and Travis Tritt. We watched The Marshall Tucker Band put on a wonderful show and as they headed to their bus after the show. We were able to get four of the six members to sign our picture including lead singer Doug Gray who had no problem coming over to sign and chatted with us for a few seconds before he had to hop on his bus. After that it was time for Charlie Daniels and after the 81 year old music legend put on a killer concert he walked off stage and walked right by us just outside his tour bus. He had no problem signing our picture but he had his security man walkover to get our picture and Sharpie so he could sign it for us. Travis Tritt was wrapping the show up and went on last. His tour buses and the Simi truck that hauled his equipment were parked a good bit closer to the stage and not as close to us as I'd like it to be so I wasn't very hopeful that he'd actually sign from the start but we still had to give it a shot. After Tritt finished up for the night he walked off stage an vanished straight into his tour bus. We still waited until it was only 5 minutes away from the fair shutting down at midnight before we finally called it a night and headed home. Even though we didn't get Travis Tritt we got one even Better with Charlie Daniels so I can't complain and it was a fun night graphing with Winter and a great ending to our summer time graphing fun. So that's all for this year. So until next time keep your sharpies flowing and enjoy a few pictures and our autographs from graphing the State Fair of WV concerts.

Cpt. Caveman's TTM Autographs #162

Welcome back for another weekly TTM success post. We unfortunately just wrapped up our summer time graphing fun with one last night of concerts at the West Virginia State Fair. Between the PGA, the NFL training camp and the fair concerts Winter and myself walked away with a load of new and wonderful autographs to add to our collection and enough memories to last a life time. Of course every graphing encounter we had this summer is special to us but a few of them most memorable ones was Winter and myself meeting and getting autographs from the legendary Charlie Daniels, Doug Gray of The Marshall Tucker Band and Don Barnes of 38 Special. It wasn't all sunshine and graphing rainbows though. We had some miserable hot days with the sun beating us down and Jerry West totally eluding us at this years PGA tour tournament. A terribly wet rain day and a shortened NFL training camp. We even had a few rejections from people we really wanted to get like Deandre Hopkins but it's not always about getting the autographs it's about the fun we have trying and the memories we make together by being able to share something I love to do with my young daughter and watching her out with a sharpie in hand getting ink on paper. We'll definitely be ready for our freshly signed in person ink fix by the time next years summertime graphing fun starts but until then its back to focusing mainly on our TTM requests. Anyways I hope everyone has enjoyed our in person autographs and pictures from this summer events and I can't wait until we can start all over again in 2019 and now on to this week's TTM successes. Monday brought a quick eleven day's return when we received both our "Logan's Run" pictures back signed by Michael York. Friday brought a quick eight day return from Barbara Anderson who signed our Star Trek TOS photos we sent her. That's it for this week. Have a great graphing weekend and as always I'll be back next week with more TTM autographs and address's.

Cpt. Caveman's TTM Autographs Bonus Post Graphing Uncle Si & The Sicotics

Welcome to another bonus in person graphing post. Tonight Winter and myself headed out to the West Virginia State Fair to see the band Uncle Si & The Sicotics with Duck Dynasty's Si Robertson as the front man. The band also includes Bridgette Tatum and Marsha Robertson and to my surprise they put on a pretty good show. They played some original songs and a few covers like ZZ Top 's " Sharp Dressed Man" and Prince's "Purple Rain".  I was right up front enjoying the show during most of the concert but since I had already found out from the merch people and security that they would be signing  autographs after the show we headed over to the area they would be signing at extra early so we could be in the front of the signing line and beat the crowd rushing the merch trailer when the show ended. When we lined up we only had a young mom with her two young children and a guy with a stack of photos to get signed in front of us. It didn't take long before more started filing in behind us before the show ended. The crowd and signing line was larger than I expected so I was glad we got our spot early. When the concert ended and they announced that the band would be signing autographs the madness started. First it was a bunch of people who decided to ignore the long line of people who've been waiting for awhile and this only got worse when Si and the others came over to sign. When the line cutters started trying for autographs several of the people who waited patiently in the actual line start flipping out on the cutters and caused a huge scene that brought security into to mix. After security showed up and started making people actually move to the end of the long  line the cutters started crying and whining causing even more of a scene. This caused the band to stop signing and said that if people wouldn't quit cutting and arguing they would stop signing and leave. Luckily that didn't happen and security finally made everyone not in the line get to the back. After that things went pretty smoothly. Winter had Si sign her tea glass and then had the three of them sign a group photo of the band. I added Si to my Duck Dynasty Christmas CD booklet that we had previously got Willie, Jase, Missy and Martin to sign at the PGA pro am two years ago. All in all it was a pretty good graphing night with a good concert just a little graphing drama and we walked away with the autograph we came for. We headed back out for some more fair fun but we passed by the signing area just over an hour after they started signing and they just finished signing for the last few fans that waited. So it worked out and everyone walked away happy. So until next time enjoy a few pictures and our autographs from tonight's concert.

Cpt. Caveman's TTM Autographs #161

Welcome back for another weekly TTM success post. I hope everyone had a productive graphing week. Ours wasn't to bad we received a few great TTM returns plus we wrapped up another year of the Houston Texans training camp that allowed us to obtain alot of great autographs for our collection and we even made a few new graphing friends. Sadly our summertime in person autograph hunting season is coming to an end. With the PGA tournament and NFL training camp behind us our last chance to get a few more in person autographs will be at the concerts at the West Virginia state fair that started Thursday. The fairgrounds are located only a few hundred yards from our house so it's not like we have far to go to try for some new ink. I've hung out back stage at the fair's concerts for years. I've been doing it ever since I was a kid out trying to get autographs or just to catch a glimpse of the musicians I really like. It's a great spot to hang out at that only has a low chain link fence and is only 10 to 15 feet away from the musicians tour bus and has a perfect view of the rear side of the stage and greenroom entrance so you can see them coming and going to the stage or buses. Sometimes they sign and sometimes they just wave and get on the bus and take off but it's still cool to see them up close even if they don't come over. We've had a plethora of band and musicians play here over the years and I've been Lucky enough to see some great shows. Since I live in a somewhat rural farm area we get alot of country acts but I've always been more of a rock and roll kind of guy so I generally try for those types of bands and on occasion I'll go for the older country stars who are from a time when county music was actually county music. We've had musicians like Garth Brooks, Charlie Daniels, The Bellamy Brothers, The Marshall Tucker Band and Alabama and numerous other country stars and musicians. Then we bands on the other end of the musical spectrum like Chicago, Alice Copper, Journey, Three Doors Down, Herman's Hermits and even acts for the younger music lovers like Britney Spears. The New Kids on the Block have even performed here back in their hadday. You just never know who they'll get from year to year to put on a concert. This year there's only a few concerts I want to see and try to score an autograph or two at. Charlie Daniels is coming back and 38 Special will be here. Merl Haggard's son Noel is playing and an interesting group that we want to try for this year is Uncle Si & The Sicotics with Duck Dynasty's very own Si Robertson as the front man. So even if he doesn't sign autographs after it should be an interesting show lol. He's playing Sunday and Monday night so that gives us two opportunities to try and it's a free show and most of the  time those artists will sign autographs for fans at the merch tables after the concerts. When the fair ends that pretty much wraps up our in person graphing opportunities around here unless we do some major traveling and unfortunately we just don't have time for that anymore. Sometimes we'll get a rare random chance to graph someone when they come to our Carnegie Hall to put on a show but it's not very often anyone big comes. Arlo Guthrie was the last one to come I actually wanted to see and that was six months before my 13 year old daughter Winter was born when he did his show at our Carnegie Hall. It's a great small venue to see a show at and was provided to the town long before my time by the same Carnegie who's name is attached to a much bigger and more famous Carnegie Hall. So with our limited access to in person graphing opportunities in our area that's why I try to attend the golf tournaments and NFL training camps every day I can and we'll make the most of it by getting as many autographs as we possibly can. After the fair's gone we go back to nothing but TTM collecting until the next summer. I tend to send more TTM requests out after the summer fun is all over and slack off on the number of letters I get written and sent out simply because with raising my daughter, work and the time spent getting autographs in person it's just hard finding the time to write numerous autograph requests to get out in the mail. Thankfully I have a very understanding boss who doesn't mind me taking an entire week off to hit the PGA or coming into work later after training camp has finished for the day. I love both ways of collecting autographs. In person graphing is exciting and fun but so is opening the mailbox and seeing one of our SASE's has returned full of graphing goodness. So hopefully if all goes well with our last few in person attempts and be on the lookout for the last few bonus in person graphing posts before our summertime graphing fun comes to an end. Anyways now on to this week's TTM successes. Monday brought a super cool return from the voice of Optimus Prime himself Peter Cullen who signed our two photos. It took one year and three months to return but it was definitely worth the wait. Next Thursday brought two great returns. First after only three months we finally received a reply from Barry Bostwick who signed our two photos. This was our third attempt at writing him over the years and I'm really happy he finally signed for us this time. To finish off the day I received my 2018 TOPPS Allen & Ginter baseball card back signed from the Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Pat Neshek after a quick two week wait. Well that's all for this week. As always I hope you all have a great graphing weekend and I'll be back next week with more TTM autographs and address's.
