Welcome back for another special In Person Graphing bonus post. The New Orleans Saints returned to West Virginia this weekend for the last few days of training camp. They had a late practice Saturday that was supposed to start at 3:30 but was pushed due to a thunderstorm passing through, that and Saturdays are big media days and most players don't have time to sign that day because of interviews so we decided to go Sunday. We arrived about halfway through practice Sunday and got to our usual spots and watched the rest of practice. A new addition to today's practice was a huge speaker blaring loud crowd noises to simulate the roar of the stadium crowd during a game. You couldn't have asked for a better day to graph. The weather was perfect with a slight breeze to keep the heat down while we waited for them to finish up. Right before they finished a junior high football team went onto the field to meet some of the players. While this was going on the players that signed today started to come over. It wasn't alot signing today because most went over to the school team but we still managed to get some autographs. I worked on more pictures and Winter started on a football today. We got all the players that signed and #16 Brandon Coleman gave Winter the sweatband off his wrist. That made her happy she's been trying to get one the entire time. As the players finished up signing head coach Sean Payton started walking towards the signing line. Everyone started yelling for him but I didn't expect him to come over because he's avoided signing autographs since he's been here. That wasn't the case today though, to my surprise and everyone else's he came right over in front of me and started signing autographs and then proceed to sign for the entire line. Wow everyone went crazy, one guy next to me has been trying to get him for 10 years at training camps so he was over joyed to finally get him. I thought the craziness over Brees signing autographs was bad but the people trying to get Payton was so much worse. His signing caused a frenzy all down the line as people pushed and shoved to get closer to the barrier and Coach Payton. I don't see why he literally took time to sign anything but said if you want a picture with him you'd better get it on the go because he wasn't stopping and posing as he kept happily signing and chatting away. After that madness passed we watched a fun QB challenge. As one QB took a baseball bat and hit tennis balls up into the air doing a home run Derby type game the other two QB's tried to pick the tennis ball out of the air by throwing and hitting it with a football. Grayson and McCown smashed the tennis balls out of the field like pros but poor old lefty Drew Brees had a hard time hitting the balls and got a little frustrated at the end that culminated in a failed attempt to break the bat over his leg. It was definitely worth seeing. After that all three came over and signed down the line. Brees and McCown signed for everyone as Grayson hit a few people here and there working his way to the kids section then signed for all of them. We had another great graphing day with a total of 18 autographs three of which are Drew Brees and two of Coach Payton so not bad at all. It looks like rain all day Monday but hopefully not and Wednesday is the last day and those are usually super special graphing days and we won't miss that one. So until then enjoy a few more pictures and our autographs from today's New Orleans Saints Training camp here in beautiful West Virginia.
