Cpt. Caveman's TTM Autographs #155

Welcome back for another weekly TTM success post. Sometimes the only way to get that autograph you really want is to purchase it. So when buying autographs what's the first thing you look for? A nice quality signature instead of a squiggly line or an autograph that matches authentic examples or maby you look for a third party authentication (TPA) sticker like the ones PSA, JSA or Beckett put on the items they authenticate. For alot of newer collectors they pay no mind to the actual autographs and rely solely on the TPA sticker. I recently ran across a post on Facebook that someone just recently purchased a baseball signed by Trump that was nothing more than a few marks on the ball and looked nothing like his actual signature but it has one of those little TPA stickers so it has to be authentic right? Now granted it might be real but even if it was the quickest rushed signature ever it still didn't resemble Trump's signature in any way and got me thinking just how could the TPA pass this as an authentic signature. Sadly to many collectors put faith in and rely solely on the so called expertise of these TPA companies when purchasing autographs. These companies go through so many autographs that there's just no way they can put that much time into comparing the signatures with known examples and mistakes can be and are made regularly. Sure TPA's may offer a little piece of mind when questioning the authenticity of an autograph but sadly to many are just purchasing solely on the fact that it has a little sticker and not the actual autographs. So don't just purchase an autograph just because it has a little sticker on it or has some sort of COA ( certificate of authenticity) but put the time in do your homework and compare them with known examples or ask other collectors before you purchase anything and you'll enjoy this hobby so much more. Anyways now on to this week's TTM successes. Tuesday brought a great return from Jeffrey Comes who signed our two pictures and took just over a month to return. That's all for this week. Have a great graphing weekend and I'll be back next week with more TTM autographs and address's. Be sure to check out our Facebook page this upcoming week for information on how to enter the autograph giveaway contest that will run through July to celebrate the three year anniversary of Cpt. Caveman's TTM Autographs.
