Cpt. Caveman's TTM Autographs #52

-
Welcome back for another weekly TTM success post. Sadly we lost actress Noel Neill this week. She was most well known for her role as Lois Lane along side George Reeves in the old Superman serials. Interesting fact she also had small roles in most TV and film adaptations of Superman up to and including the 2006 "Superman Returns" film. She was 95. Since Monday was the Independence Day and a federal holiday here in the states the P.O. was closed so one less mail day this week. This week before the successes I thought id go over a few autograph collecting abbreviations that are commonly used.
-

TTM - Through The Mail ( meaning the autographs are acquired by sending autograph requests the old fashioned way with a fan mail letter thru snail mail.)
-

IP - In Person (an In Person autograph success or experience)
-

SASE - Self Addressed Stamped Envelope (the envelope you send for the return)
-
VV - Via Venue (obtaining autographs by sending to the film / show set or to the theatre or music venue)
-

RTS - Return To Sender (the last thing you want to see stamped on your TTM autograph requests lol)
-

AP - AutoPen (a machine that produces facsimile autographs for celebs that are to busy or don't really care about their fans lol)
-

SS or SEC - Secretarial Signature (signed by the celebs secretary or personal assistant for celebs who care slightly more than the ones who use AP's lol)
-

DS - Document Signed (this could be a endorsed check or a signed contract, ect.)
-

TLS - Typed Letter Signed (exactly what it sounds like an all typed letter that's signed)
-

LS - Letter Signed (a handwritten letter but written by someone else like a secretary and then signed by the celeb)
-

ALS - All Letter Signed (this is the holy grail to some. Its a handwritten letter by the celeb and also signed by them)
-

ANS - Autographed Note Signed (similar to the ALS only in note form and not a full letter. We get alot of ANS's back with our TTM returns)
-

HOF - Hall Of Fame (lol do I really need to explain HOF)
-
PSP or PS - Pre Signed Photo (a photo already Pre Signed by the celebs that are sent to fans who request autographs)
-
PP - Pre Print (a photo with a facsimile printed autograph also see AP or SEC lol)
-

These are just a few commonly used abbreviations that I see used alot in the autograph collecting world. I hope this help some of you new collectors out there. If your looking for more information on collecting you can find a few really good books online. The Standard Guide to Collecting Autographs (1999) by Mark Allen Baker, Advanced Autograph Collecting (2000) also by Mark Allen Baker, The Official Autograph Collector Price Guide 3rd edition (2001) by Kevin Martin and A Reference And Price Guide For Sports And Celebrity Autographs (1999) by Beckett Publications. All these books can be found online very cheap. I ordered mine used on Amazon for less than $5 per book plus shipping. They are a little dated so if your looking for just a price guide you might want to look elsewhere but these books all have great collecting tips and info along with a lot of authentic autograph exemplars for comparison and as any good collector knows you can never have to many exemplars. Now on to this weeks TTM successes. Tuesday brought three amazing returns and one fail. First an amazing success from Legendary musician Phil Collins. We only sent an index card because he sends pre signed pictures. Great success and only took twenty days to get ours from the UK. Next an awesome reply from Lou Diamond Phillips. He signed both pictures we sent and only took just under two months to return. IV been a huge fan of his ever since I was a kid and first watched "La Bamba" and "Young Guns" and super happy to add him to our collection. The last success of the day was a great VV return from Charlie Cox. We loved him in "Boardwalk Empire" and in the new "Daredevil" show. It only took two weeks to return but I haven't seen a end date on the play yet and it started in May so if you want to try him I wouldn't waste any time. Unfortunately to finish off the day and after seven months we received our pictures back unsigned from Karen Grassle with a note on the back of one asking for $30 per autograph, it's hard to be disappointed with this one with all the great successes today but it would've been nice to get the grand slam four in one day lol. I'm including the address for anyone interested in purchasing one from her. Friday brought a great return from actress PJ Soles. She's been alot of great films over the years but we really loved her in "Carrie" and "Stripes" and more recently from her small role in "The Devils Rejects". She even wrote a nice thank you note on our SASE and only took a month to return. That's it for this week. Everyone have a great weekend and ill be back next week with more TTM autographs and addresses and don't forget about the 1 year anniversary blog/Twitter contest starting on July 14th. Until then have a great graphing day.
