Cpt. Caveman's TTM Autographs #31

Hello and welcome to another amazing week in TTM autograph collecting. I run across alot of autograph websites through out the week. One thing I see alot of is sites selling horrible fake autographs. Now these are not your 1st class hard to spot forgeries but rather poorly attempted fakes. For instance I ran across a website selling a John Lennon and Paul McCartney signed Yellow Submarine poster and on sale for the low low price of $185. Wow you say lol . The description says its an original 1968 movie poster. (FYI Original posters of the same kind they are selling actually can sell for thousands of dollars just for the poster not including the rare autographs) I emailed that I was interested in purchasing and I was its a great deal right, anyways I asked how and when it was signed and the response I got was In 1968 on the set while filming. (its an animated film by the way and if they got John and Paul why no George and Ringo lol). Ok so I had my answer but it just seems way to good to be true. The signatures are signed in what appears to be black sharpie. No sign of fading on the ink or the poster hmmm kinda funny for a poster signed almost 40 years ago and that if actually was authentic would sell for Thousands anywhere else so I say pass. Mind you this same website has full cast signed posters for movies like Star Wars both old and new films, The Godfather (with Brando), Star Trek, 007, and Music groups like The Rolling Stones and The Grateful Dead. And my favorite a Dark Knight poster signed by the entire cast including Heath Ledger and tons more. All guaranteed to pass 3rd party authentication and all for around $200 lol. What's the point of this funny tale. Do your research! There are plenty of authentic autographs out there for sell you just have to do you're research and buy from a reputable dealer not some random autograph dealer online. If there's just someone you really want and purchasing is the only option I say only go with ones already authenticated by a reputable 3rd party authenticator, it may cost a little more but at least you know its authentic. Anyways now that's over on to this weeks successes. Monday brought three great returns. First after only 11 days Winter got her picture of Bambi and Thumper that was already signed by Peter Behn back signed by Donnie Dunagan who did the voice of young Bambi, a very nice success. Next after an eight month wait we received our photos back signed from Miss Angie Dickinson. Super amazing to add this lovely actress to our collection. To finish off the day our picture return signed from music legend and former Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic. Along with our picture coming back signed he also sent us a signed raffle ticket, a Nirvana sticker and a very interesting pamphlet on proportional voting. Super cool guy and just shy of a year to return. Tuesday had two replys, first in just under two months the always lovely Jennifer Tilly sent a signed 8x10. We only sent a 4x6 from Seed of Chucky so when a big envelope showed up I was sure I had gotten a pre print, but to my surprise it was hand signed. To finish off Tuesday we added another great autograph to our Star Trek:TOS (that's the original series for you non Trekers out there) collection, after only 12 days both pictures we sent to Morgan Woodward returned signed. Wednesday has two amazing returns. First after two months we got both pictures back signed from Cyndi Lauper, so cool to finally get her autograph in our collection she's such a wonderful person with some amazing music. To finish off the day Tyne Daly signed our picture and also sent a signed 8x10 with her own envelope and postage and she even sent our SASE back unused. Super nice reply from this incredible actress and only two weeks to return. Friday brought two more replys. First after only eleven days, Burt Young signed both pictures we sent. We love him as Paulie in the Rocky films. Next Winter got both photos back signed from Richard E. Cole. Mr. Cole was Col. Doolittle's co-pilot during the Doolittle Raids, such a great return even though one was a little smudged but it only took six day to get them back. Thats it for this week.
