Cpt. Caveman's TTM Autographs #62

-
Welcome back for another weekly TTM success post. Iv been seeing alot of arguments online with collectors saying dealers are killing the autograph hobby. While the hobby has definitely changed over the years I don't think all dealers are to blame. As long as there are famous people around to sign fans will want to collect and as long as there's fans collecting and celebs signing people are going to try and make a dollar by selling autographs. I see no problem with a good In Person autograph dealer. They have helped me obtain some amazing autographs that I just don't have the opportunity to get IP myself and they usually have better prices than you find on other sites. I do have a problem with greedy dealers and forgers that knowingly sell fake autographs to newer or unsuspecting collectors. I have a problem with the rude pushy dealers that shove kids and real fans out of the way. These are the ones that are giving good autograph dealers a bad name and turn celebs against signing. I see alot of collectors saying celebs stop signing because they see the autographs for sell online. Yes I have seen this happen sometimes but IV also seen alot more not care what so ever, with some even asking how much they are selling them for. We have even had them joke saying its fine as long as we send them a cut and we're not sellers but obsessed collectors we just love graphing. The funny thing is alot of the celebs that have stopped now sell their own autographs at conventions, private signings and off websites cutting the dealers out and letting fans get autographs straight from the source. So celebs are essentially becoming autograph dealers themselves. They don't get upset they just adapt and its a win win in my opinion. Fans get authentic autographs straight from the celebs and the celebs get the money someone else would have gotten from selling the autographs. Some donate the money to charities but some older celebs depend on autograph fees and are usually very responsibly priced so I don't mind purchasing. Now Im not talking about ones like the $800+ Harrison Ford private signing but the ones that sell autographs the normal fan can afford like in the $20-$100 price range. Autograph collecting is an amazing hobby that some have been lucky enough to turn into a business. Some dealers have helped advance the hobby others have left a tarnish that's given them all a bad name. So just remember not every dealer is crooked but there's more bad then good out there so do your homework. There's even websites out there dedicated to exposing the forgers and dealers that sell fake autographs I can't say it enough. Research is the key. Now on to this weeks TTM successes. Monday started the week off with five amazing returns. First after five months we received one of the two pictures back signed from Patricia Heaton. Winter loves "The Middle" so she's super happy with this one. Next after only three months I received my DVD cover back signed from Tommy Chong. I asked in my letter that if he ran into Cheech to get him to sign to but it only came back signed by Chong. Still a very cool success and hey I had to try. Next a very cool success from The Oak Ridge Boys. In just under a month both pictures returned signed by all four members and they even signed in different colors of ink that made the pictures look amazing. Next a super quick eleven days for legendary actor Martin Sheen to return. He signed both pictures we sent him plus he also signed and thanked us on our letter. To finish off the day and after 15 months we received both pictures back signed from Curtis Armstrong. IV been a fan since of his since "Revenge of the Nerds" and I'm glad he finally returned. Funny thing I had given up on this one and had just resent another request out the very same day my original attempt returned. Crazy timing. That's it for this week. Have a great weekend and ill be back next week with more TTM autograph collecting goodness.
